Caulastraea Sp.

Peaceful to Semi-Aggressive

Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean (typically collected off the coast of Australlia and around numerous different Indo-Pacific islands)

Merulinidae

Large Polyp Stony

Lo Caulastraea corals, more commonly referred to as Trumpet Coral or Candy Cane Corals, are very easy to keep and like low to moderate lighting and moderate flow. They are typically found down lower in aquariums and grow branches with polyps that split in half to form new polyps, taking on a ball-like growth form.
As of now, there are only a handful of different color variations available, but one of our favorites is the "Kryptonite Candy Cane". It contains an extreme amount of fluorescence and really "glows" under heavy actinic lighting, making them very popular in the aquarium hobby.

Candy Canes are mainly photosynthetic, relying on the products of their zooxanthellae but they should also be fed phytoplankton and zooplankton as well as other products like Coral Feast and Reef Energy, and LPS pellets.

Of course, you should always maintain proper water parameters by maintaining good calcium, magnesium, and alkalinity levels.
