Large Polyp Stony

Blastomussa Merletti, more commonly referred to as Blastos, is a fairly easy to keep LPS coral that requires low to moderate lighting and flow and should be placed in the lower 1/3 of the aquarium.
One easy way to distinguish Blasto species is based on the size of their polyps. The polyps found on a Blastomussa Merletti are significantly smaller than those found on B. Wellsi. Also, there are not nearly as many color patterns available of B. Merletti as there is B. Wellsi.
Blastos are mainly photosynthetic, relying on the products of their zooxanthellae, but, they should also be fed phytoplankton and zooplankton, as well as other products like Coral Feast and Reef Energy, and LPS pellets.

Of course, you should always maintain proper water parameters by maintaining good calcium, magnesium, and alkalinity levels.
